Walk By The Ocean
There’s something about the ocean that spells romance. You can’t beat a stroll with your loved one along one of the Great Ocean Road’s golden sandy beaches. Dip your toes in the clear water. Feel the ocean breeze on your face. Bask in each other’s company.
Stargazing
Close your eyes for a moment and imagine a huge indigo sky filled with stars. Alkina Lodge is the perfect place to stargaze. We’re in a remote location which is undisturbed by city lights and the sight of the moon, stars and Milky Way will simply take your breath away. We have a complimentary telescope at the lodge but please make sure you make arrangements with us prior to your arrival if you would like to use it.
Lunch At A Whiskey Distillery
If you’re looking for romantic experiences on your trip, you’ll need at least one special lunch date. Less than an hour’s drive from Alkina Lodge is the delightful Timboon Railway Shed Distillery. Set in the forest, this will be a lunch date with a difference! The atmosphere is rustic, the forest setting is romantic, the food is seriously good – and of course there’s the whiskey and liquor tastings…
A Helicopter Flight
For the ultimate romantic experience, why not surprise your loved one with a breathtaking helicopter flight over our spectacular coastline? You’ll fly high over the ocean and see the famous Twelve Apostles from the air – and if you’re here between May and October you might even spot a whale or two.
Admire The Twelve Apostles At Sunset
The Twelve Apostles are an amazing sight at any time of day, but we think the most romantic time to visit is at sunset. There will probably be fewer people around at this time of day, giving you a more intimate experience. Just after sunset you might also catch a glimpse of the little penguins returning to shore. Simply magical!
A Gourmet Meal Prepared By Our Private Chef
Our chef Cindy Leveillee-Goulet studied the culinary art of haute cuisine in Canada. Cindy can prepare foodie romantic experiences at Alkina Lodge just for you! When you arrive, it will be all ready and all you need to do is pour the wine, light a candle and enjoy your private, romantic dinner for two. It’s the perfect finishing touch to your romantic break! A Cozy Night In, In Front of the Fire
You can’t get more romantic than this! Of course if you’re here in the summer you’ll probably prefer to find a pretty spot outside to sit, but during the winter you can’t beat snuggling up in front of our much loved fireplace with a good bottle of local wine.

Close to Alkina Lodge is the beautiful Otway region, full of tall trees, lush ferns and pretty waterfalls. Explore one of the many walking tracks, find a secret spot in the rainforest and enjoy a picnic.
