Family Holidays on the Great Ocean Road

We believe that the Great Ocean Road is the perfect destination for family holidays. We’ve got beaches, rainforest, history, wildlife, great cuisine and a family friendly, laid back vibe.

Alkina Lodge is also a great place for families to stay. Each of our three lodges has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a fully equipped kitchen and barbeque facilities. We’re regularly visited by kangaroos, wallabies and native birds and the whole family can enjoy watching them from the comfort of your lodge.

There are plenty of fun family activities and day trips near Alkina Lodge, making it the perfect base for family holidays on the Great Ocean Road.  Here are some of our favourite family activities:

Hit The Beach!

The Great Ocean Road beaches can be wild and rough at times, so we recommend families go to nearby Port Campbell for safe swimming and family beach fun. It’s a sheltered bay which is patrolled by lifesavers during the summer. You could also spend the day at any of the Great Ocean Road’s other popular beaches such as Apollo Bay, Port Fairy or Warrnambool.
